OWLS Media is a film production company specializing in documentary projects and magazine-style video content for the domestic and international markets, especially the US and Germany.
OWLS MEDIA has also been supplying translation, voiceover production, and subtitles for film, television, and marketing projects as OneWorld Language Solutions since 1990.
Gabriele Hayes
Producer
Gabriele Hayes was born in the former East Germany. She studied Russian and English and received her Master’s Degree from Friedrich Schiller University in 1989. After the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, she was allowed to travel. She moved to the US and now lives in Los Angeles.
Gabriele produced the documentary film One Germany, The Other Side of the Wall in 2011. It examines the reunification of Germany after 20 years. It features interviews with the current President of Germany, former political prisoners, Stasi (East German secret police) officers, rock musicians, and comedians.
She also recently produced the documentary From Red State to Golden State about Soviet Jewish immigration to Los Angeles in the 70s and 80s.
Gabriele and her husband Mark, are also regular contributors to German television magazine shows for Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR).
Mark Hayes
Director
Mark began making short films in high school. He attended the film program at New York University and studied under the renowned documentarian George Stoney.
In 1985, Mark began traveling through the Eastern Bloc. He picked up a student who was hitchhiking and eventually married her. His parents were upset that he was marrying a “Commie” but moved to East Germany to live with her despite their disapproval. When the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, they moved to the US.
He produced and directed several documentaries including From Red State to Golden State, and One Germany, The Other Side of the Wall.
Mark has taught screenwriting at Southern Methodist University and is a member of the Writers Guild of America.
